Kel Ediciones is proud to launch the BA SHAKESPEARE SOCIETY, a reading group devoted to the analysis
of Elizabethan and Jacobean theatrical masterpieces.
Mr. Denis Horan will be providing some necessary background and some
running commentary on each of Shakespeare´s works
Shakespeare's Romances: THE WINTER'S TALE
"There's a divinity that shapes our ends, rough-hew them how we will".
This quotation, taken from the mouth of a major tragical character, provides Shakespeare with the conceptual framework for his late plays or "romances", the fifth and last genre we will be looking at this year.
In "The Winter's Tale", -which we might as well call "The Madness of King
Leontes"- we'll see how the Bard weaves a rich fantasy that searchingly explores the key themes of jealousy,
healing and redemption. |
